Many people wonder what The Chernobyl Disaster really is. The Churnobyl Disaster was a nuclear reactor accident near the Churnobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. This is how bad it was. It was the worst nuclear power plant accident in history in the world. That is pretty bad. It was a little while ago though. Then Ukraine was apart of the Soviet Union. Only two people died IN the explosion but many deaths followed. On the 26th of April in 1986 history was made. Many areas such as Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia were terribly contaminated. 336,000 people had to be evacuated and resettled in different places. So many people were affected by this that they got cancer (a very rare type) and died. The Churnobyl Plant shut down completely in 1993.
